High Concept
Paper Dungeon is a modern dungeon crawler RPG in a unique “giant miniature” setting with a strong retro vibe. The emotional story about guilt and tragic loss is presented in environment full of fascinating secrets, battles, puzzles, strange creatures and traps.
Game Genre
Paper Dungeon has a very robust RPG system (traits, skills, spells, inventory…) and complex, tactical turn-based combat. It’s a first-person game, but the player moves on a “grid” and controls party of four heroes with unique abilities.
Related Games
Paper Dungeon is inspired by legendary games like Dungeon Master, Wizardry, Lands of Lore, Eye of the Beholder, and more recent games like Legend of Grimrock and Vaporum. But under the hood is much deeper experience and storyline and the game also contains elements of modern psychological horrors like Layers of Fear, Soma or The Evil Within.
Nostalgia Overload
Do you have that pleasant feeling of nostalgia for the 80s and early 90s? Do you remember old tabletop RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons, the ridiculous but great old B-movies, the weird toys and gadgets like walkman or the beautiful sound of VCR swallowing VHS with that new horror movie? It’s all there – and it plays crucial role in the story, because…well, you’ll see why.
